Outdoor Team Building

Team development and growth has a price: There will be some discomfort. CMOE’s outdoor teambuilding programs deliver opportunities for teams to experience this discomfort in a safe learning environment, which will help them learn, grow, and develop as a team. Past participants have called these experiences “challenges that stretch our limits.” No matter what you call it, the bottom line is this: In order to experience team growth and unity and reach peak performance, teams must get out of their comfort zones.

Whether you want to conduct a teambuilding exercise in the office parking lot, at a team-training facility in a remote and rugged location, or somewhere in between, taking the group outdoors will certainly provide your team with a beautiful classroom setting—but it will also create a learning environment that consistently has a dramatic impact on participants.

We recognize that having a group of strong individual contributors doesn’t always translate into great teamwork. Our team building courses help the team move rapidly through the phases of team development to help it deliver on its objectives quickly. We also help teams develop new mindsets about how their team and team relationships work, as well as identify specific actions they can take to improve the way the team functions. Being offsite helps teams focus on the issues right in front of them, allowing members to reconnect with one another and align their individual efforts with important team objectives.

Using outdoor team-training events provides participants with opportunities for hands-on learning and discovery. For example, if one team member doesn’t listen to the ideas of the other group members during the event and they fail to complete a task, it’s likely that the team will get frustrated and tensions will mount. However, it’s this discomfort—and the level of honesty that comes with it—that sparks the development of high-performing teams. We simply provide the safe learning environment and let it happen.

Outdoor Environments and Scenarios

Using sites around the world, and through a variety of time-tested learning exercises and business simulations, CMOE’s Outdoor Team building events provide teams with lasting results and memorable experiences. These learning experiences can be designed using a variety of outdoor elements and environments. Some options include the following:

Water Environments

  • River-rafting events
  • Lake events
  • Coastal events

Land Environments

  • Low and high ropes courses
  • Orienteering simulations
  • Cave events
  • High-desert events
