What Does this Process Involve?

The Leadership Team Alignment Journey begins with Phase I, where we work with you to gather data about the organization through a variety of methods: face-to-face interviews, surveys, and assessments. This data-gathering phase helps us understand your key business issues, clarifies the goals you are trying to achieve, and allows you to prioritize the opportunities that your team needs to work on right away. Then, we design a one- to two-day Alignment Session for your leadership team to address the unique needs of your team and business.

Business AlignmentTypically, Phase I of the Alignment Journey can be completed within 30 days, although the timeline varies for each client and will depend upon your specific needs. Some organizations have urgent issues that need to be addressed as quickly as possible, and these organizations often choose an aggressive timeline for the process to unfold. Other companies prefer to approach the process more slowly, engaging in more advance planning, involving more people up front, and gathering information about the organization’s needs more slowly. While every business is unique, many organizations uncover needs related to business strategy, process improvement, communication, team effectiveness, and group dynamics.

During the leadership team’s Alignment Session, all team members are first briefed on our findings; then, we engage in focused activities to develop collaboration skills and pinpoint specific opportunities for improvement. To begin solving the real business challenges that were identified, CMOE will help the group form Opportunity for Improvement (OFI) teams and provide useful, practical resources and tools to support the teams with their work.

During some organizations’ Alignment Sessions, CMOE has provided resources for resolving conflict, enhancing decision-making, solving problems more effectively, and clarifying business plans. Regardless of the specific areas that your team needs to focus on, all leadership teams benefit from the time dedicated to open discussion, coaching, and action-planning. The session becomes a stimulus for setting long-term direction and executing on priorities that can transform the team to a greater level of effectiveness.

What Type of Results Can I Expect?

We have seen dramatic shifts in the way people work and communicate as a direct result of the Leadership Team Alignment Journey. It becomes a forum to gather together, act on real business issues, and present solutions. However, the journey doesn’t end after the Alignment Session. To help you maintain momentum, we will continue to work with your leadership team on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. Leaders are given one-on-one coaching as needed and teams are held accountable for business outcomes. Regularly touching base also allows us to help the leadership teams navigate change when new challenges arise.
